BEST Futures

BEST Futures is funded by the Department of Human Services via the Futures for Young Adults funding, and provides support to young people with a disability aged 18-21.  The program supports participants to develop their job readiness skills, self esteem, confidence and work practices in their move from school to employment, volunteer work, and further education and training.

BEST Futures provides individualised case management in the following areas: preparing for work, pre-apprenticeships, work - full time, part time and casual, Government and private programs, TAFE, University and private education settings, supporting people to get their learners permit and license, work experience, voluntary work, work trials, apprenticeships, traineeships, certificate courses, on the job support, uniform and Future Ambitions.

What is BEST Futures? 

BEST Futures assists young people to develop their skills, and work practices to make a smooth transition from school to adult options e.g. employment, volunteer work, further education and training.

How does BEST Futures work?

Futures brings together the young person, their family, school teachers and Futures for Young Adults Transition Workers to support the young person in setting goals and planning their transition from school to adult options.

Support provided through BEST Futures is a three year transitional program.

Who is BEST Futures for?

Key objectives of BEST Futures:

To assist young people that are eligible to make the transition from school to further education, training and employment.

Services may include:

  • An assessment of individual needs
  • Pre-employment training
  • Career counseling
  • Personal development
  • Assistance with job search preparation
  • Resume development
  • Preparation of application letters
  • On the job support
  • Work experience and/or voluntary work
  • Referral to further education and training options

How do you nominate BEST Community Development for your Futures Program?

In consultation with the Futures for Young Adults transition worker, you can choose to join BEST Futures. There is no cost to you to receive services from BEST Community Development. We provide a case-management / brokerage service based on the individual budget allocated in accordance with guidelines of the program.

Funding is determined according to the "Special Needs Assessment" conducted by the Department Human Services.
